Ryan Rosenberg is a member of ACF and an emeritus member of PACE. He formerly played for North Carolina and briefly for DePaul and Northwestern.
Career
His high school tenure at Ardsley saw the team go to more good tournaments his senior year, culminating in a 21st-place finish at the 2012 HSNCT and an All-Star trophy.
Ryan attended college at North Carolina, winning the 2014 ACF Nationals Division II title along with Natan Holtzman and Zihan Zheng.
Ryan played the 2018 Central SCT for DePaul and the 2019 SCT and ICT for Northwestern while taking grad school pre-reqs.
Writing and Editing
Ryan wrote for PADAWAN, his first major experience writing college-difficulty questions. Ryan edited lit and social science for 2017 ACF Fall. His work on Fall and as assistant tournament director for the 2018 ACF Nationals earned him an invitation to become a member of ACF in both the editing and logistics tracks, the first person to receive both invitations simultaneously.
In 2020-21, Ryan organized and head edited Spring Novice, a novice set patterned after Early Autumn Collegiate Novice. Later in 2021, along with Daoud Jackson, Joey Goldman, and Kevin Wang, he launched QB League, an asynchronous online quizbowl league. The league ran for two seasons before ending due to lack of bandwidth from the organizers. Finally in 2021, he head-edited the inaugural edition of ARCADIA, a now-yearly collaboration between the North Carolina and Duke quizbowl teams.
In 2023, Ryan edited social science for three different tournaments at Regionals difficulty and above: BHSU, the IQBT Undergraduate Championship, and Chicago Open.
Tournament direction
Ryan directed multiple high school and college tournaments while at North Carolina.
He directed the 2018 NSC and 2019 ACF Nationals, and served as assistant TD at the 2017 NSC and 2018 ACF Nationals. He was slated to direct 2020 ACF Nationals before it was postponed due to COVID-19.
Quizbowl Statistics
Ryan developed [1], a website that hosts compiled quizbowl statistics from college tournaments.
