Foreign language questions are a problematic type of question that usually ask for translations into or from a foreign language to English.
They are often a hallmark of bad quizbowl because they are inherently not pyramidal and often have issues with listing all potential full and accurate translations.
The National Tournament of Academic Excellence, for at least some of its run, used foreign language questions. These questions sometimes were in the form of handouts which would have questions in Spanish, French, Latin, and sometimes German, or were questions related to short videos shown in those languages.
Questions on specific foreign languages and other linguistic aspects are far more likely to be pyramidal and seen in good quizbowl.
