Prior to the 2014 VHSL Realignment, VHSL Region C was a VHSL region in class A, consisting of schools with less than 700 students lying, for the most part, in the Roanoke Valley and to the immediate west of the Shenandoah Valley area. It contained the Hogoheegee District, Mountain Empire District, Pioneer District, and Three Rivers District. Like all VHSL regions, it sent two teams to the VHSL Scholastic Bowl state championship tournament for the fifteen-year duration of the original Scholastic Bowl tournament structure.
