It contained the Eastern Shore District, Northern Neck District, Tidewater District, and Tri-Rivers District. Like all VHSL regions, it sent two teams to the VHSL Scholastic Bowl state championship tournament for the sixteen-year duration of the original Scholastic Bowl tournament structure.
