Raleigh Charter is a charter high school in Raleigh, North Carolina and regularly wins tournaments held in that state. They won the 2006 NSC. Notable alumni include Will Schultz and Peter Schultz.
The Phoenix Quiz Bowl team regularly makes the NAQT nationals tournament. RCHS qualified two quiz bowl teams to go to NAQT in the 2011-2012 season. After great successes with coach Eric Grunden, now principal of Research Triangle High School, Raleigh Charter turned to Betsy Newmark as its main coach in the 2012-2013 season.
The 2012-2013 team was led by seniors Dan Qu and Ben Whitfield. The team was able to achieve 2nd place at the season opener at the Golden Eagle Cup, and followed that up with the team's first tournament championship in over a year at the Guilford Quaker Bowl. Raleigh Charter then took scored both first and second place with their A and B teams at the Cave Spring Invitational Tournament in Roanoke, Virginia.
The 2013-2014 team was led by seniors Andrew Zhou and Sanjay Kannan. The team achieved 2nd place at Tar Heel Cup, 1st place at Golden Eagle Bowl, and 1st place for the second year in a row at the Guilford Quaker Bowl. The team would go on to win the NCASA State Championship, and finished 53rd at NAQT.
The 2014-2015 team is currently led by senior Jonathan Williams. After a disappointing 9th place finish at Tar Heel Cup, the team won Golden Eagle Bowl for the second year in a row and Quaker Bowl for the third year in a row.
