Bruce Lou is a freshman at UC Berkeley, class of '19; he previously attended Saratoga High School. He is best known for his achievements in History Bowl, as he did not start playing Quiz Bowl until 2014; however, he has won several notable titles in both.

He first entered national prominence when he won the 2014 US History Bee, where he faced off against Sameer Rai in the finals. Interestingly, both competitors only competed at the continued insistence of Ankit Aggarwal. In addition, Bruce led the Saratoga team to 2nd place in the 2014 National History Bowl, where they lost to LASA in the finals. That year, he also attended his second quiz bowl tournament ever, the 2014 NASAT, where he was the top scorer on a 3rd place Team California of him, Kevin Wang, Hidehiro Anto, and Aseem Keyal.

In 2015, Bruce led Saratoga to the first clean sweep of the NHBB ever, placing first in the National History Bee and National History Bowl, as well as first in the US History Bee for the second time. He played at the 2015 PACE NSC as a solo team, placing 27th. He also participated in the 2015 NASAT, where he was once again the top scorer on a 1st place Team California of him, Kevin Wang, Justin Nghiem, and Kion You.

He was named a member of the Second Team for the 2015 HSQBRank All-World Teams.
