George Washington or GW is a college in Washington, D.C. that has fielded a successful quizbowl team in the past. During the 1990s and early 2000s they fielded an active team that was something of a rival to the Maryland team and reached various nationals, including an 11th-place finish at the 1999 ICT and three top four finishes at NCT between 1989 and 1994. In the mid 2000s to 2007-2008 the team was relatively inactive, usually attending only non-packet submission tournaments in close proximity to DC, but has been revived several times since then and is currently active.
A-10 Championship
GWU currently holds the Atlantic 10 Conference Quizbowl Champion title. This unsanctioned trophy is awarded to the winner of the match between GWU and VCU's A teams at NAQT SCT in years when they play the same site, as those are the only two schools in the A-10 that consistently field intercollegiate quizbowl teams.
