They also jumped out to a large lead in the final game and took TJ down to the last tossup--the only team to come with 280 points of TJ in any game at the HSNCT that year.
Lakeside, 2002 St. John's, and 2011 LASA are the only teams from outside of the Michigan, Southeast, or Mid-Atlantic regions of high school quizbowl to ever make the finals at a major national championship.
