The first annual Missouri Fall Academic Tournament (abbreviated MFAT) was a high school tournament run at the University of Missouri-Columbia on November 1st, 2008. The tournament was debut directing effort of Charlie Dees and Alex Dzurick. It featured 18 teams from all over the state of Missouri. The questions used were NAQT's IS-80A.

The second MFAT will be run on October 10th, 2009 (the first Saturday allowed by MSHSAA) and will use a regular Invitation Series set. [1]

2008 Results

After teams were split into three pools of 6 for the preliminary games, the teams were rebracketed into three new pools of 6 for championship, middle, and lower level bracket round robins. The undefeated teams from the morning were Liberty, North Kansas City, and Rock Bridge A, while the 2nd seed teams were Clayton, Helias, and Hickman. After another round robin, North Kansas City cleared the field with a 10-0 record, while Hickman and Rockbridge were tied at 8-2 but Hickman won the PPG tiebreaker for second place. Additionally, Glasgow defeated Richland 175-150 in the small school final. North Kansas City, Hickman, Rock Bridge, and Glasgow all qualified teams to the 2009 NAQT HSNCT, and North Kansas City and Hickman also qualified for the 2009 PACE NSC. The top scorer was Brandon Roney from North Kansas City with 112 PPG in the prelims.
