Sterling High School is between Rockford and the Quad Cities in northwest Illinois. For many years, they were one of the strongest teams in their area, and for a few years they were among the top teams in Illinois. For about 20 years starting in 1989, they were coached by Cheryl Christianson, who was active in the IHSSBCA and hosted many tournaments. Sterling finished 2nd in the Masonic tournament in both 1998 and 2003.
