2004 MSHSAA State Championship
The 2004 MSHSAA State Championship was held May 8, 2004, at Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, MO.
Class 1
New Covenant Academy won the Class 1 District 2 championship, but did not attend the state tournament. This resulted in a bye in each of the three preliminary rounds. For seeding purposes, byes were counted as wins.

The Class 4 preliminary rounds resulted in some unusual results. The top 5 teams each went 2-1, which precluded Kirksville from making the playoffs simply because they scored the fewest number of points. This highlights some of the flaws with MSHSAA's current system, including having a pre-determined preliminary schedule based on district without a full round robin, and tie-breaking teams with the same record by points in the case where one does not make the playoffs.
Also note that the highest-scoring team, Eureka, lost its first and third matches by 10 and 5 points, respectively.
