The +1 method is a Quizbowl playing strategy in which a player recognises a clue and is around 90% sure of the answer. The player proceeds to wait for the next clue to confirm. If the player is using the +1 method, the player will buzz after this additional clue, regardless of whether they understand the clue. In many cases, the +1 method may lead to a player losing a buzzer race which they could have won if they had buzzed on the initial clue. Regardless of whether the player using the +1 method gets the buzz or not, it will generally be followed by a catchphrase such as "should've buzzed earlier". The +1 method is most common among new players who are wary of negging and have not learned the value of aggressive buzzing strategies.

As a relatively cautious buzzing strategy, it may be compared to the [[Keller Method]], although the +1 method does not arise from concern with stats, rather from a general caution often brought on by inexperience.
