The 2006 [[Raleigh Charter]] team won the [[2006 NSC|PACE NSC]] with a lineup of Chris Hoersting, Katie Huddleston, Will Schultz, and Andrew Zonderman. They rallied from a 5-2 prelim performance to go 4-1 in the playoff bracket, then won two rematches of previous losses, against State College A in the semifinals and Richard Montgomery A in the finals, to take the title. According to the post-tournament discussion, this was the only North Carolina team ever to win a national championship.

This was the third time, after [[1999 State College]] and [[2002 Richard Montgomery]], that a team won the PACE NSC without attending the NAQT HSNCT in the same year, thus confounding efforts to determine a consensus national champion.
