+Richards coached the "QuizJags" academic team at Cedar Shoals high school for over a decade, capped by [https://patch.com/georgia/athens/cedar-shoals-quiz-jags-win-high-q-championship winning] the Atlanta-area WSB-TV [[High Q]] [[TV tournament]] in 2014. Cedar Shoals also consistently won or finished highly at several smaller local competitions such as the self-created AAAA Region 8 competition each year and had several high finishes in the AAAA division at the [[GATA]] state championships.
