The '''VCU Last-Minute Tournament''' was a high school tournament on NAQT IS-74, held on February 23, 2008 under the auspices of the [[VCU]] quizbowl team and on the grounds of [[Collegiate (VA)|The Collegiate School]]. The tournament is so named because it was organized on thirteen days' notice to provide an event for teams to play on that date following the cancellation of the [[Cavalier Open]] due to "unforeseen logistical issues."

After suffering a loss to their own B team in the playoffs, [[2008 Thomas Jefferson (VA)|Thomas Jefferson A]] won three straight elimination games (a tiebreaker over [2008 Dorman|Dorman B]] and both parts of a disadvantaged finals series against Dorman A) to win the tournament.

This was effectively the "zeroth" incarnation of the [[VCU Spring Tournament]], which has been held by VCU around the same date ever since. It was also the first event hosted by VCU in conjunction with [[Collegiate (VA)|Collegiate]]; VCU has hosted an average of one tournament a year there since.
