The 2012 Chicago Open was won by The Ignaz von Dollinger Escape Plan, consisting of Matt Bollinger, Eric Mukherjee, John Lawrence, and Chris Ray, who cleared the field with a 15-1 record. This began a six-year streak in which the winning teams at CO cleared the field, obviating the need for finals. There was a four-way tie for second among Disgusting Human Stains; We Don't Need No Stinking Science Players; In Soviet Russia, Tournament Edits You; and Reo Fortune and the Sorcerers of Dobu.
