The 2021 Chicago Open was won by "Hush Hush, Keep It Down, Wang, Losses Carry" (Matt Bollinger, Jordan Brownstein, Andrew Wang, and Ophir Lifshitz), who cleared the field after the playoffs. Three teams tied for second after finishing 3-2 in the playoffs: "Dat face when u realize he who made the lamb made thee" (Matt Weiner, Taylor Harvey, Aseem Keyal, and Rahul Keyal); "Chicago B 2019" (John Lawrence, Alston Boyd, Kai Smith, and Sam Winikow); and "BHSU Adamantaimai" (Rob Carson, Tejas Raje, Billy Busse, and Andrew Hart).

The tournament was head-edited by Will Alston, with Jonathen Settle, Brad Maclaine and Eric Mukherjee. Ike Jose and Itamar Naveh-Benjamin were singled out for thanks for going above to help finish the set. Jacob O'Rourke again served as TD.

  • 2021 was the first year since 2002 in which the winning team at Chicago Open contained no players who were eligible, active participants on a college quizbowl team during the preceding academic year. (One player on the winning team, Matt Bollinger, became collegiate quizbowl eligible for the following year.)
