Asanka Nanayakkara is a computer science and chemistry major of Sri Lankan descent via Illinois and Mississippi at Ohio State. He entered the world of quiz bowl his junior year of high school and played for the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science, leading them to victory in the 2009 Mississippi State Tournament. He also participated in other NAQT events, the annual Univerisity of Mississippi's Academic Invitational Tournament and socialized quizbowl known as National Science Bowl .
