Charlie Dees was a member of the Missouri Quizbowl Alliance and assistant coach of Rock Bridge High School. Starting in 2015, he helped lead the Columbia team that won the 2019 ACF Nationals.

Charlie played for North Kansas City; he was notable for being one of the top high school players nationally in 2008, and put up 210 ppg at the 2008 NSC. Charlie was also a leader of the push for good quizbowl practices within Missouri and was the the primary person that would have been affected by a proposed rule, dubbed the "Charlie Dees Rule," that would have prohibited high schoolers in Missouri from playing college tournaments.

During the 2008 NSC All-Star Round Charlie was holding his buzzer near the table when Dan Humphrey moved his elbow, forcing Charlie's finger to activate the buzzer in the middle of a tossup. Hilarity ensued, as Charlie was negged after responding with "You hit me!"

In June 2008, Charlie was named an interim member of PACE, from which he resigned in 2010. Charlie has also written for HSAPQ and NAQT, and worked with George Berry to supervise each incarnation of the Fall Novice Tournament.
