Grand Junction is the only Colorado high school with any consistent participation in national-level quiz bowl. Up to 2000, they were regular participants in the National Academic Championship, but at 2000 NAC they had a team disqualified.
Grand Junction has also been the perennial representative for Colorado at the Panasonic Academic Challenge, finishing sixth at the 2004 PAC and fifth at the 2005 PAC.
Either Grand Junction or Fairview High School in Boulder usually wins the state Knowledge Master competitions.
