It has hosted four NAQT HSNCTs (2009, 2010, 2014, 2015), five MSNCTs (2011–2013, 2018, 2019), nine ICTs (2010–2014, 2016–2019), four SSNCTs (2016–2019), two IPNCTs (2018, 2019), one CCCT (2018), two PACE NSCs (2016, 2017), and several other quizbowl and quizbowl-adjacent events. It was thus the site of many famous in-game incidents in quizbowl history.

Shuttlegoers should not confuse the HRO (which is in Rosemont) with the "Hyatt Rosemont", a much smaller hotel about a mile away. There is a third Hyatt property (a Hyatt Place) in Rosemont.
