Joy An is the current captain of the Choate quizbowl team. They played on Connecticut's NASAT team in 2021 and 2022, and were the first scorer in prelims of the main site of Prison Bowl in 2022.

Joy was a panelist at the 2022 David Riley Coaches Conference and Women in Quizbowl Panel at the 2022 NSC. They are also currently editing Not About Straight White Men, a side event focusing on non-straight white men who are currently underrepresented in the high school quizbowl canon that will be played in 2023.
