Kevin was invited to the first ACO practice of the 2009-2010 year by [[Kent Buxton]]. He first competed on the college level at [[EFT]] IV at [[Illinois|UIUC]], getting 25th individually out of 92 while playing on a team with a record of 4-8. Kevin next competed at [[ACF Fall]] at the [[Missouri|University of Missouri]], where he was on a team that, after defeating them in the preliminaries and being defeated by the same team in the playoffs,  lost a tiebreaker to [[WUSTL]]. As a result of winning the tiebreaker match, WUSTL took the 2nd place, undergraduate, and division II titles of the tournament.

Kevin Lang was a member of the Truman State Academic Competition Organization during his freshman year of college. In high school, he was a member of three teams that qualified for the MSHSAA state championships and captain of his high school varsity team for three years.

Kevin joined the Tarkio varsity team during his freshman year. He was given Highway 275 all-conference honors after winning that championship. as well as Class 1 District 8 all-district.
