HSNCT

44 Missouri schools have made a total of 129 appearances at HSNCT, including 10 appearances by B teams. Missouri's best finish at HSNCT was Ladue's second place finish in 2013. Other Missouri teams to appear in the playoffs include (in order of each school's best finish) North Kansas City (5 times), Ladue B, Hallsville A and B (in different years), Hickman (4 times), Francis Howell Central, Washington, MICDS, Helias (3 times), St. Joseph Central (twice), Savannah (4 times), and Rock Bridge. A state record 5 Missouri teams advanced to the 2014 HSNCT playoffs.

9 of 12 small school eligible appearances by Missouri teams have resulted in advancement to the small school playoffs. Missouri's best finish in the HSNCT small school playoffs was in 2013 when Hallsville B tied for fifth and became the first small school eligible team from Missouri to ever advance to the overall playoffs.

Through 2018, Missouri teams have compiled a 635-750 record at HSNCT.

NSC

23 Missouri schools have made a total of 54 appearances at NSC, including 11 appearances by B teams and 2 appearances by C teams. Missouri's best finish at NSC was in 2013, when Ladue went 18-1 and earned the first pyramidal national championship by a team from Missouri. In addition to Ladue's five playoff appearances, North Kansas City had top 10 finishes in 1999 and 2008, and Washington advanced to the playoff tier in 2017.

14 teams from 9 Missouri schools attended the 2012 NSC at Washington University in St. Louis, the only pyramidal high school national championship ever hosted in Missouri.

Through 2018, Missouri teams have compiled a 271-506 record at NSC. (These counts do not include any games from North Kansas City's 6th place finish in 1999, as those records have apparently been lost.)

Charlie Dees was the top scorer in the 2008 NSC preliminary rounds with 210 points per game.

SSNCT

23 Missouri "Traditional Public" schools have made a total of 44 appearances at SSNCT, including two appearances by B teams. Hallsville won the inaugural national title with a 15-1 record in 2014, finished second in 2015, and has earned Missouri's best finish at each SSNCT to date. Richland was one of only six teams to finish the preliminary rounds undefeated in 2015, but ultimately finished tied for 11th. Other Missouri teams to advance to the playoffs (in order of each school's best finish) include Moberly, Louisiana (twice), Pilot Grove (twice), Orchard Farm (twice), Mound City (twice), Centralia (twice), Gainesville (twice), Hermann, Lathrop, Pleasant Hill, and Tuscumbia.

3 Missouri schools have participated in the Charter and Private/Open division of SSNCT. St. Pius X has attended both tournaments to date, advancing to the playoffs and finishing tied for ninth in 2017.

Through 2018, Missouri teams have compiled a record of 260-233 in the traditional division of SSNCT and a 16-25 record in the Charter and Private/Open division.

Michael Powers of Louisiana was the top scorer in the preliminary rounds of the 2018 SSNCT Traditional Public division with 105.60 points per 20 tossups heard. Samuel Lockwood of Hallsville was second with 104.59 PP20TUH, and was the only player to exceed 100 points per game over the entire tournament.

NASAT

The Missouri Quizbowl Alliance has sponsored a team from Missouri at every NASAT to date. Missouri's best finish was in 2013, when a team consisting of Jialin Ding, Max Schindler, Haohang Xu, and Ben Zhang (all from Ladue) defeated Texas in a 1 game final to win Missouri's first ever all-star national title.

Through 2017, Team Missouri A has compiled a record of 60-60 at NASAT. Team Missouri B first attended NASAT in 2017, going 8-7.

Max Schindler was the top scorer in the 2012 NASAT preliminary rounds with 70.42 points per game, and in the 2013 NASAT prelims with 69.58 points per game.

Finals Appearances

Prior to Ladue's appearance in the 2013 HSNCT finals, no Missouri team had ever advanced to a pyramidal high school national championship final. From 2013 HSNCT to 2014 SSNCT, Missouri teams made four consecutive appearances in the finals of the four pyramidal high school quizbowl championships (Ladue at 2013 HSNCT and 2013 NSC, Team Missouri (Ladue) at 2013 NASAT, and Hallsville at 2014 SSNCT), winning the last three.

Hallsville was disadvantaged to Harmony Science North Austin in the 2015 SSNCT finals and lost the first game 450-375 to finish in second place. Hallsville's only other loss in the tournament was another close 410-380 loss to Harmony on the last tossup of the last winner's bracket game.
