Former University of Chicago player and team president; played on the teams that won the 1997 and 1999 NAQT ICTs, as well as the 1999 CBI NCT. Renowned for his tournament organizing skills, including as Tournament Director of the 1999 ACF Nationals.

As a pioneer in advanced statistical analysis of basketball, Zarren is currently the Assistant General Manager of the Boston Celtics, in which role he formulated the "Wheel" plan for eliminating tanking in the NBA regular season that was much-discussed in the sports media in 2014.
