Middle school
During middle school, Kang primarily played NHBB; between 2015 and 2018, he was semifinalist at the National History Bee four consecutive years.
High school
As a freshman, Nate began playing general quizbowl in addition to History Bowl. Kang was the champion of the 2018 JV Sports & Entertainment Bee and placed 7th in the 2019 JV US History Bee.
Writing
He was a writer for ERIS, a novel-level set produced in 2020.
