Northfield High School is a public high school in Northfield, Minnesota.

Program History

Northfield has long been a participant in Minnesota's Knowledge Bowl competitions. The school's first exposure to pyramidal quiz bowl came when its Knowledge Bowl team attended the 2020 Minnesota High School Quiz Bowl League Outreach Tournament, which it won. Northfield player Owen Riley found quiz bowl enjoyable and spent much of that summer learning about it and becoming active in the online community. After he was unable to convince the Northfield administration to sponsor a quiz bowl team, Owen started one himself, recruiting many teammates from the Knowledge Bowl program. The team quickly improved over the course of the 2020-21 season, finishing in 7th place in the Minnesota postseason poll. Northfield placed 63rd at the 2021 NSC and 20th at the 2021 ONCT.

Owen graduated in June 2021 and transitioned to coaching the Northfield program, which continues to attend tournaments.
