Top of the Form was a competition for teams from secondary schools on BBC radio and television that lasted from 1948 to 1986. Reach for the Top in Canada was original based on its format. Wikipedia claims that it was cancelled because "the competitive nature of the show jarred with modern educational philosophy" and the article also implies that the question and answer format didn't bode well for the show in the eyes of educators either .
