The University of Washington quizbowl team is a collegiate quizbowl team consisting of students from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA.

History

For many years in the early 2000s, the UW quizbowl team was exclusively a CBI team. The university was the site for the 2005 CBI NCT.

In the 2008-2009 school year, former Maryland players Mike Bentley and Brittany Clark worked towards bringing the team back into the circuit. That year, the school hosted ACF Fall, TRASH Regionals, Penn Bowl, the Penn Bowl Trash Tournament, MUT and Matt Weiner's Trash Tournament, and also sent teams to SCT and VETO.

The team has won most events in the Northwest circuit since 2008, including the 2010 SCT where UW teams won both DI and DII. A hybrid team of Bellevue and UW players placed 3rd at the 2010 mirror of T-Party at Stanford, marking the team's first tournament outside of the region. The team fielded its first team at a national tournament by sending a DII team to the 2010 ICT, and in 2013 a team consisting of Joelle Smart, Evan Mann, Carolyn Woods, and Matthew Sorensen got 20th at DII ICT. In 2014, the team of Mike Bentley, Libo Zeng, Joelle Smart, and Chris Grubb placed 2nd at the SUBMIT Berkeley mirror and 1st at Cane Ridge Revival at Berkeley. That same team went on to place 9th at the 2014 DI ACF National tournament, far surpassing their projected placement of 21st.
