Walter Zhang played quizbowl at Brown. He was part of the team that won the UG title at 2021 ICT, 2021 ACF Nationals, and 2023 ICT. Zhang played for Vestavia Hills in high school, and led the team to a T-31 finish at the 2019 HSNCT. During that tournament, his Vestavia Hills team defeated the eventual runners-up, University Lab, in the prelims.
