Seth Brugler obviously captained the team from that point on, even though Varga claims otherwise. It helps that Seth is writing this. The team went on the qualify for nationals in two of the next three years as Violet Burd, Jason Lee, Noah Lepola, Lexi Meade, Jon Lee, and Ed Sanfrey (Freshman) spent time on the A Team. Warren G. Harding High School is located in Warren, Ohio, a city in Trumbull County.

History

Warren G. Harding entered the Ohio quizbowl scene on February 13, 2010 when it attended its first tossup-bonus format tournament at Solon, at which it finished in the top half of the field and team captain Michael Coates was the sixth highest overall scorer with 59.14PP20TH. The team attended several other pyramidal quizbowl events that year, qualifying for the 2010 HSNCT and the 2010 PACE NSC at the Bridgeport Invitational Tournament, both of which it attended. The team, composed entirely of sophomores, finished with a 5-5 record in Chicago that year, and Michael Coates was named as the first member of the Sophomore All-Star Team with 46.76PP20TH. Harding and also won the Ohio Academic Competition East Central Regional.

The 2010-2011 season saw continuous improvement from Harding, with the team breaking 20PPB for the first time on a regular difficulty set at Parkersburg High. Harding finished with a 6-4 prelims record at the 2011 HSNCT, defeating Grosse Pointe North in the playoffs before succumbing to The Early College at Guilford in the second round. Michael Coates was named a Tournament All Star with 80.00PP20TH. Coates was also the only non-senior member of the 2011 NASAT Team Ohio, which finished third. In OAC competition, Harding successfully defended its title at the East Central Regional and finished tied for fifth at the OAC State Tournament. The team also won the YSU Academic Challenge television show.

Playing with its same starting lineup for the third year in a row, the 2011-2012 season saw Harding score its first tossup-bonus tournament victory when it defeated teams from Olmsted Falls, Beachwood, and Detroit Catholic Central to win the 2011 Bowling Green Falcon Tournament. The season would also see Harding capture the Ohio National History Bee and Bowl State Championship title, defeating St. Charles A in the finals with a score of 310-190. Michael Coates also won the History Bee State Championship, defeating teammate Korey Gall 5-2.
