Zachary Yan is currently a freshman at St. Olaf College in Minnesota. Previously he had played for Wayzata from 2011-2013. He started quizbowl his junior year allegedly after accidentally stumbling into a practice thinking there was food; there wasn't but he stayed anyways and now there usually is food. Zachary played on Wayzata's A team at at the 2012 HSNCT and 2013 HSNCT, and those teams would place T13 and T50 respectively. Individually, he won the 2011 and 2012 Minnesota State History Bee but only went to the 2011 Nationals, where he placed 41th out of 165.
