Zachary Yan is currently a freshman at St. Olaf College in Minnesota. Previously he had played for Wayzata from 2011-2013. He started quiz bowl his junior year allegedly after accidentally stumbling into a practice thinking there was food; there wasn't but he stayed anyways and now there usually is food during practice. He won the 2011 and 2012 Minnesota History Bee but only went to Nationals in 2011, where he placed 41th out of 165.
