I believe that was a hall of
fame (as a concept I think; I doubt it had/has any
physical manifestation) specific to the National Trivia
Bowl that ran annually in Boulder, CO for many years.
As I recall from mid-1980s conversation about it,
when a team won the National Trivia Bowl (an all-trash
event) they were permitted to try to defend their title
once, and then barred from ever coming back except in
the role of question-writers or moderators -- they
couldn't play in the tournament again. I could have this
wrong, though. I was going to guess that once you're
barred from future play, that's what constituted
enshrinement in the "hall of fame," but Ray's bio as quoted by
Samuel says he was inducted in 1984, but won the
tournament in '86, so that theory must be wrong. :)
