Re: Quiz Bowl Upsets

Re: Adam's post, ANYTHING could have happened on
those questions from GT Cup I. Robert Daigillard made
each round nothing but poorly written trash and
obscure French diplomats..and questions where the tossup
would read: "Martin Luther King was shot by whom?"
That's the WHOLE tossup, and this is the year BEFORE the
infamous "Who wrote Paradise Lost?" ;-) We were certainly
unhappy to lose, but I remember the shock quickly turned
to hysterical laughter on the way home to Foggy
Bottom...

Re: Samer's Post, what made that upset so much more
astounding is that Samer was NOT playing. It was a
legitimate 6-9 PennBowl team. The tossup that decided caused
the tie was "Marlon Perkins" and I think James negged
on a Rap Question down the stretch...ouch, that was
just painful. PennBowls and CBI = live by the impulse
buzz, die by the impulse buzz (Dave Vacca said this to
me once at a tournament).

Tournaments like
that, if you wait for a fact, you lose...it's all a
game a charades.
