Re: Quiz Bowl Upsets

The most surprising win I can remember being a
part of was at Philadelphia Experiment in 1996. I was
on a team with Greg Seroka (of MSU), Benoy Chacko
(of UM), and Jamie Brault (of WMU). We were no
slouches, but our defeat of a team consisting of Andrew
Yaphe, John Sheehan, John Edwards, and Alice Chou
certainly counts as an upset, especially since the win was
by a healthy margin! IIRC, that team was either the
eventual winner of the tournament or one of the top
placers.

Playing basically solo and beating Emory at a Vandy
Regionals Prep, BGSU beating a young Virginia-Yaphe team
(IIRC) at GWUJCV -- those are two others that stand out.
The latter, admittedly, only in retrospect. None of
these are world-class games or ended up meaning much as
far as championships but still...

My
QB memory fades more and more with each month, so if
I've misrepresented some facts, I apologize, it was
not intentional.
