This will be a couple of short replies to issues at hand. Andrew Yaphe posted himself on the QB group that he felt no ill will or effect from the Michigan packet. In this particular, I would assume (note: I was NOT there myself) that Zeke wrote a lot of the lit questions. Andrew and Zeke are good friends, which in that respect may have favored Andrew. But I doubt bias or favoritism had any play into it. But my guess is that Chicago played UMCP on the Michigan pack because it was _an excellent packet_. Contrary to what Chris Sloan said about random scheduling, I think the best teams should play each other on the best packets. He is right in that you don't always know who the best teams are, and sometimes you are surprised, but usually you can get a very good idea of who they are. As for Josh's comment about local teams not attending, let me offer another reason: schoolwork. I wish I could have fun going to two tournaments in one weekend, but I just could not afford the time. I was glad to have read 162 pages on Saturday. Had the Terrapin been the only tournament this past weekend, I would have attended, either as a moderator or with a Johns Hopkins team. (I had attended the previous five Terrapins in some function or another, and always enjoyed it). But funding, work, and a general lack of interest were contributing factors to both my teammates and me. Hopkins did attend TRASH Regionals the next day. For me, it was a choice, and I chose the tournament which was a qualifier for a national tournament (TRASHionals). It was a responsibilty as well, as a member of the Hopkins TRASH "A" team, to field the best team possible. AFAIK, it was also the only reasonable chance I got to play in a trash tourney this semester. Josh, teams have a right to attend whichever tournaments they wish. You cannot "force" participation on anyone (which is what "inexcusable" implies), and that will only alienate the above-mentioned teams in the future. -Adam (who will be at the UMCP fall HS tournament as a moderator)
