In the parlance of collegiate quizbowl the name
"College Bowl" generally refers to that particular
formulation of the game promulgated by the aforementioned
College Bowl Company, Inc. While your meaning was clear
in the context of your original post, some folks
feel compelled to insist on precision. Since I was so
inculcated in my youth, I too tend to slip up and refer to
the generic by the particular. I prefer, however,
when refering to the aforesaid Company to use the name
"College Bowel".
