Re: 2003 NAQT ICT to be held in Los Angeles

Wow, you do something else for a few monthes and you miss all
the "fun". As someone with no team and therefore no stake in this:

1. You knew it was coming, there has been discussion for years on
having a national tournament on the west coast.

Why should NAQT have to justify turning down other bids? It's their
decision, they have not done it any other year. They should not have
to justify business decisions to those whose personal situations
don't make such decisions convenient.

2. I agree that it is possible NAQT may not get the 40 odd BEST teams
in the country/world (some have argued they don't anyhow, but I'm not
gonna touch that). However, though I have not been following the
circuit this year, generally the best teams are usually the best
teams, they also have good budgets or institutional support
or...etc.etc. I don't think the top couple spots at NAQT are going
to change because it's in LA, and after that I believe it is beyond
NAQT's control or responsibility.

3. I do hope NAQT has enough of it's own people to staff. Paying 200-
500 dollars to play is one thing. To staff is something completely
different. Well I certainly don't speak for anyone else of that
certain age that lends itself to such things, even assuming I do find
a job in the next couple months, I could not afford a trip like that.

However, I am reasonably confident that R. and NAQT already have this
figured out.

Enough of my babbling. Just my two cents, which is worth only
slightly more now that is 2 cents American again.
