Re: Oh another point to this whole thing

I guess I don't find it
ludicrous. If you can't score points on your own bonus
question, why penalize a team that would convert the points
on a bonus question had they not been locked out of
a tossup? I've seen too many people say if they had
been able to answer certain bonus questions, then they
could have at least been competitive in a match against
another team.

I think that reboundable bonuses do
change the dynamic of quiz bowl play towards one of more
team-oriented play rather than just straightforward
tossup/bonus play. You have to be sure that your team can
answer bonus questions and convert them when given the
opportunities while preventing the opposition from getting
those. Since your opportunities are not restricted to
just tossups, it puts a lot of pressure on team
knowledge in order to answer the bonus questions on your
turn or on a steal. If anything, in my op, reboundable
boni favor stronger teams than teams with strong
players. And I guess for me, team play being more
emphasized is good for the game than rewarding more
"individual" play.
