Brief Results- Iowa State Fall Tournament

Greetings, everyone:

Here are brief stats for the Iowa State Fall Tournament, held October
12, 2002 in Ames, Iowa. Many thanks to the teams who made this
tournament a success.

Division I was clinched for the undefeated Illinois A team after the
double round robin. South Carolina beat Carleton A in a tenth game
to decide second place.

The number of games is slightly odd because two teams left at
lunchtime.

ladder play, where Carleton B successfully defended their first-seed

Many thanks go to Matt Cvijanovich, chief question writer editor, and
Michael Rach, my co-director. Questions were also written by Paul
Tomlinson, Michael Rach, Tim Meyer, Mickey TeKippe, Liz Carlson, and
myself. Thanks also to Charlie Steinhice and David Farris who
exchanged packets with us.

Additional thanks also to our game officials, Paul Tomlinson, Matt
Cvijanovich, Eric Hillemann, Tim Meyer, Scott Moser, Aubrey Da Cunha,
Mark Fiddelke, Jeff Morrison, and Tim Kearns, as well as to our
statisticians and war-room keepers Michael Rach and Liz Carlson.

I am very interested in critiques of this tournament. This was the
first tournament written by Matt, who is a third year player. This
is the second tournament that Michael Rach has run, and the first by
me. (We are both second-year players.) So anything you have an
opinion on, positive or negative, is something we'd like to hear
about. Please email me at mjf27 at iastate dot edu.

Thanks again to all who helped make this tournament successful.

Sincerely,
-Michael Falk
