General ACF Fall Thoughts

Greetings,
As the fields are taking form for the various sites hosting the
2002 version of the ACF Fall Tournaments, I would like to take the
opportunity to address players and teams around the country that are
not traditional participants in ACF-style events. For a variety of
reasons, inexperienced quizbowl players have shown a general
reluctance to attend ACF-style events in recent years. This is a
trend that I hope can be reversed, and I think a good first step in
this direction is to encourage you to give the ACF Fall Tournaments a
try. The response I received last year from teams new to the ACF
experience was almost overwhelmingly positive, with the relatively
low difficulty level and abundance of relatively inexperienced teams
providing an introduction to the ACF format that was much less
intimidating than a typical circuit event, allowing people to see
what I, and many others, love so much about the format. If you've yet
to play in an ACF-style event, I would strongly encourage you to give
it a try on November 2. If you end up not caring for the format, then
that's fine, but I think you might be surprised how much you end up
liking the experience. There's still plenty of time to enter the site
nearest you (which you can find at www.acf-qb.org under the 2002 Fall
Tournament link). If you have any questions, please feel free to
contact me at ksmcke0 at hotmail dot com.

Thanks,
Kelly McKenzie
