I remember one year Wilde Lake HS (in Maryland)
defeated Thomas Jefferson and St. Anne's Belfield (in the
last of their great years) in the It's Ac Super Bowl.
I believe it was 1992, before the full flowering of
Yaphe.
I wonder if they ever did anything
else??
But my point is this: there are a lot of good teams
out there that don't get out enough, so to speak.
Warren County (Va.) HS was able to demolish
Charlottesville, Spotswood and other good Western VA teams in the
early 1990s, but we never travelled anywhere beyond a
day trip. I know for a fact that with committed
players, exposure to good teams is beneficial -- I only
started studying and working at QB after getting spanked
by St. Anne's Belfield on TV.
