2nd Annual Game Show Congress - Las Vegas, NV - Sat, July 12th, 2003

Call for presentations and exhibits

The Second Annual Game Show Congress (GSC2), presented by ExperTrivia 
LLC, is a seminar and trade show featuring television game shows and 
game operas. GSC2 will be held on Saturday, July 12th, 2003 from 
noon until 9 p.m., in conjunction with Viva TRASH Vegas - (Testing 
Recall About Strange Happenings) - a pop culture trivia format 
competition. The meeting and expo will be held at the Hampton Inn 
Tropicana, 4975 South Industrial Road, Las Vegas, Nevada.

ExperTrivia LLC is soliciting presentations from producers, 
participants, and analysts regarding the game show and game opera 
genre. Presentations may be in the form of lecture, multimedia 
productions, panel discussions, papers or thesis, or audience 
participation activities. Tabletop exhibit space will be available 
to those who are promoting shows, events, or products related to the 
industry. Abstracts should be submitted to ExperTrivia LLC 
ATTN: Paul Bailey via email to gpaulbailey_at_u..., via fax to 603-
566-3774, or by post to PO Box 3037, Boulder, Colorado 80307-3037 on 
or before Thursday, May 1st, 2003. The agenda for GSC2 will be 
published on Monday, May 12th, 2003.

For the audience, the event is free and open to the public. Tabletop 
exhibits (one draped 8ft table) or 10x10 booth space are available 
for $100. Funds generated by exhibits beyond operating costs will be 
used to provide stipends to presenters. Attendees of the event will 
have opportunities to become spectators for T.R.A.S.H. competition as 
well. Proceedings and videotapes of GSC2 will be available in August 
2003.



HISTORY:

On April 5th, 2002, the first Game Show Congress was held in Boulder, 
Colorado, in conjunction with the world famous University of Colorado 
Program Council Trivia Bowl competition. Activities at last year's 
Game Show Congress included:
Discussion of techniques for writing trivia questions for 
television game shows and other competitions, drawing on the 
expertise of CU Trivia Bowl judges, and writers from television 
shows, internet game companies, and other competitions such as 
T.R.A.S.H.
A presentation by Steve Beverly, Professor of broadcasting at 
Union University in Jackson, Tennessee traced the cyclical history 
and promising future of television game shows. Mr. Beverly produces 
the acclaimed www.tvgameshows.net site.
A panel of winners and participants from television game 
shows had a question and answer session with the audience. Ed 
Toutant, who won $1,860,000 on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire," Lori 
Bailey, who won $500,000 on the internet trivia contest "Goldpocket" 
and was a winner on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" and "Jeopardy!," 
and Leszek Pawlowicz who has been a winner on "Jeopardy!", "Win Ben 
Stein's Money", "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire", and "History IQ" 
were among those that participated.
