Legal Aspects of Quizbowl

Hi Everyone,

I'm a new poster here, and I have some general questions that
maybe some of you can answer. Basically, my firm specializes in
patent, copyright, trademark, and intellectual property law. I find
generally that when we hire new new associates, some specialized
training is needed in that field. The way we hold such training is to
walk our new hires through invented "scenarios" that deal with issues
likely to be encountered in the real world. I am trying to write a
new scenario, and I thought
that quiz bowl would be a interesting medium. These are my questions:

1) Who own the reproduction rights to written questions, if anyone?
Particularly, to events in which each team is required to submit a
packet of questions? Are questions copyrighted?

2) What, if any, penalties exist for plagiarism?

3) Is there any sort of central authority that governs the validity
or acceptability of questions?

4) Are there any legal issues with the use of copyrighted material
within questions?

5) Are there any trademark issues involved with the use of school
names or the names of indiviuals?

These should so fine to start with. Please email me if you have a
reply.

Thanks,

Robert Fairhoy
