RESULTS: NAQT Northeast SCT

Yesterday, eighteen teams (7 Division I, 11 Division II) made the
trek out to Babson for NAQT's Northeast Sectionals. Team results:

DIVISION I: After a double round-robin, Yale was undefeated. Harvard
and MIT split their games to tie for second. MIT's Mike Usher led in
individual scoring, followed by Harvard's Vik Vaz and Yale's Ben
Gross. (Mike Wehrman was erroneously reported as the third-leading
scorer at the tournament; sorry, Ben.)

1. Yale A (12-0)
t2. Harvard A (9-3)
t2. MIT A (9-3)
4. Yale B (6-6)
5. Williams A (4-8)
6. Rutgers (2-10)
7. Brandeis Worker (0-12)

DIVISION II: The tournament was a round-robin, followed by division
into three groups of 4 (or 3 in the case of the middle bracket). The
winner in this division was much less clear-cut. Harvard B and
Brandeis Parasite both had two losses; however, upon reviewing the
score sheets, it was found that Harvard had beaten Brandeis in both
of their meetings, and therefore won the tournament. MIT was third.
Leading scorers were Jim of Harvard B and the rather disturbing
Shirtless Mehrun of Brandeis Parasite. Williams B beat out U-Penn A
to win the I'm Not Angry bracket, and McGill came down from Canada to
win the Less Than Zero bracket in their first ever tournament.

All records are expressed in (pre-rebracketing record, post-
rebracketing record) format.

We'd like to thank all the teams for their patience with the room-
reservation mishap which caused the relocation of the tournament, as
well as Mark Coen for reserving the rooms at Babson, Allyson Mondoux,
Matt Harper-Nixon, Jon Couture, Dennis from Harvard, and Steve
Watchorn for volunteering their time to moderate, and Jen Fick for
donating the use of her computer. More detailed stats will follow
when she sends me the files.

By the way, I've received a couple of inquiries about my appearance
on "Inside Edition". I'm told I'll be on "Inside Edition Weekend"
this weekend; here in Boston, the show airs at 5:30 PM tonight on
ABC/5, but it's syndicated, so check your local listings for time and
channel.
