Re: Creating an Upset

Anyone who knows me knows that I often say things
I shouldn't. They know that I often have to reword,
retract, and rephrase things simply because I shot first
and asked questions later. So when it comes to
needing to shut up, I think I know what I'm talking
about.

That said, Mr. Mickmars, SHUT THE HELL UP!

Yes,
the packet was bad. We think so too. Our captain
wasn't too fond of it. But what you've said goes beyond
criticizing the tournament and goes into SLANDER. Everything
you've brought up is circumstantial evidence. Reasonable
doubt would still pervade in a court of law. We need
your SMOKING GUN. Do you have concrete evidence? Was
the packet altered? Did you hear Chris say anything
suspicious?

By the way, I laugh at your statistical analysis. I
find it so amusing that you pull numbers out your rear
end. Furthermore, your comments are a slight to
Michigan B, Case Western, and Chicago A, all of whom
should be commended for their upsets rather than having
them minimalized.

Mick, do you watch college
basketball? If so, you know that upsets can happen. This past
year, we had a 14 seed beat a 3, a 12 beat a 4, all
four 8s and 7s lose in round 1, a 10 make the Elite
Eight, two other 10s make the Sweet Sixteen alongside a
13, and so much more. Yet are there cries from you
that the NCAA rigs the court so that teams like
Arizona and Cincinnati constantly miss out on the Big
Dance? Of course not! The NCAA wants to make money by
holding a fair tournament -- and so does Penn
Bowl.

Further, I am insulted that you feel we have less than a
10% chance of beating Princeton on a random packet.
But that may just be a matter of pride, much as your
blathering is. Tell me, which team are you from, Maryland,
Michigan, or Illinois?

Andy Goss
(who wishes to
point out while he has your attention that in the past
15 years in the NCAA, there has never been a case
where all four 1s made the Final Four and that seeds as
low as 10 have gotten there -- now put THAT in your
pipe and smoke it!)
