Max Headroom is currently in reruns on Tech TV. While Benson is not
currently on the air, I distinctly recall watching on BET at several
points in the '90s after stumbling upon it while going through the
channels.
If I were submitting a packet for a trash tournament, I'd consider a
certain amount of balance by era. To balance out a question on The
Avengers, I might write a question aimed at a younger set, such as
post-2000 Nickelodeon shows, for example (and I have done both).
Of course, l wholeheartedly support the idea behind Princeton's trash
tournament, not because I think trash is superior to academic (I enjoy
both on a hardcore level), but because I think the idea has merit. No
one wants to play on a question set when they feel extremely alienated
from the subject matter. And any tournament that makes people want to
play is a good thing.
