   While I agree with other posts about the procedure of the protest, 
something struck me as I read the original post on this thread. 

   I played at the RCT (Region 11) but don't remember this particular 
tossup.  Nevertheless, considering that the question about "Zaire/DR 
of the C" was current events, I don't think that there should have 
been a prompt on "Zaire."  The DR of the C dropped the name Zaire 
FIVE years ago.  If a quizbowller hasn't kept up with current events 
from 5 years ago and says "Zaire" for the DR of the C, then they 
shouldn't be prompted at all. Conversely, if they want the old 
name "Zaire" and you say DR of the C, then you shouldn't be prompted 
for that either.
 
   I don't intend for this to be a gripe about CBI, and I certainly 
don't mean to disparage the Notre Dame squad or take away from their 
victory (One question doesn't decide the entire match, even if it 
comes at the end.)  I do feel, however, that I should express my 
point about that particular question, and perhaps about current 
events questions in general.
