Re: The Not-quite-the-Elite-Circuit Circ

<< This may very well be the tackiest
message I've ever read in a quizbowl forum. (and that's
no small achievement) It's completely inappropriate
to presume a weak field because a certain school won
the tournament. >>

WHOA! I never
said it was WEAK. I may have been incorrect in
assuming that just because various Big Names weren't
involved, that it was "off" the main circuit, but I
certainly didn't intend to say that the teams involved were
weak.

The angle I was trying to capture was something along
the lines of "What teams involved in the Sword Bowl
are/were DARK HORSE kinds of teams, those that haven't
gotten as much publicity as the teams ranked highly in
the polls, but who are equally as capable as those
teams."

And besides, the nonsense posted by the anonymous
whiner about "Warm weather teams" and "Cold weather
teams" and rigging tournaments was about 1.4*10^5 times
as tacky as my post.

<< Congrats to
Justin and to the University of the South team for a job
well done. If their good play continues, we can expect
to see them as part of the strongest fields in the
country come April >>

Well I certainly hope
this is so.
